Equipment Foundation

The focus of this class is to apply the Pilates principles and fundamentals to become familiar with the basic and beginner exercises on the Reformer and Tower. With a deeper understanding of alignment, breathing technique and exercise rhythm, you will increase mind-body awareness and ability. This class is open to all levels and prepares for transition into Equipment Multi-Level.

This class includes Reformer and Tower work and is taught with instructor focus on safety and education.

  • Students benefit from a slower paced class

  • Improve alignment, posture and muscle tone

  • Detailed breakdown of the Level I exercises

Equipment Multi-Level: Beginner - Intermediate

The structure of this class is based on a preset exercise repertoire on the Reformer and/or Tower plus an introduction to the Chair. Each session you strengthen your ability to move through the choreographed routine with more stability and control. Transitions between exercises, including making equipment adjustments allows you to experience the flow and rhythm of the full body workout. You work on strengthening the abdominals and stabilizing the pelvis and spine while mastering the beginner intermediate routines as each exercise prepares the body for the next. We work on training coordination, increasing breath capacity, precise control, concentration and "moving from your center".

Prequisites:

  • Instructor approval and a minimum of

  • 20 Equipment Foundation Sessions or

  • 6 Private Sessions

Equipment Challenge: Intermediate

This class is recommended for students who are comfortable with the exercises and ready to move beyond beginner Pilates. We introduce the Beginner Advanced Pilates exercises and incorporate them into our full workout. More core strength and control, and in general a higher level of coordination and balance is required to move through the faster paced class and there is a greater demand on the ability of the student to maintain core control and focus on mind-body integration. Regular sessions will continue to challenge and invigorate, expanding your awareness and creating a new level of conditioning, strength and balance.

Prequisites:

  • Instructor approval and a minimum of

  • 20 Equipment Multi-Level Sessions or

  • 20 Private Sessions

Equipment Teacher Class: Advanced

Instructor approval is required. This class is for Pilates Equipment teachers with an emphasis on gaining a deeper understanding of the biomechanics, spotting full body engagement, purpose of the movement and common compensatory patterns. Instructors from different styles and backgrounds are welcome as participants join us from all over the Chicagoland area.
