Evolution 101: Fundamentals & Matwork
(22 total hours)

Course Objective:

This is an intensive training course that instills a thorough understanding of the Fundamentals and includes learning, practicing and teaching beginner to intermediate mat work exercises. As the very basis of The Method™ Pilates, this training is taught so that students learn to deeply integrate the movement concepts in their own bodies resulting in a more effective ability to teach.  The course includes a discussion of basic anatomy, trunk stability, posture types and teaching skills as related to Pilates. Students will learn a repertoire of 17 fundamental exercises and 31 classic mat exercises.

Fundamentals:

The Fundamentals are very practical movement principles and can be applied to any fitness regime.  In this course students will gain knowledge about the biomechanics, muscle patterns and exercise principles underlying the exercises. This allows students to better empower their clients to move correctly from their center which supports access to their internal stabilizers, which has been proven to reduce injury, create better alignment and to increase overall balance to the body by building core stabilization.

Who this course is for:

  • Serious students and athletic performers: Deepen your personal practice, increase the effectiveness of your workouts

  • Movement specialists: Personal Trainers, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Rolfers and other body workers will gain (re)new(ed) insight in movement principles they may already apply in their practice

  • Future as well as experienced Certified Pilates Instructors:
This course is the first step in becoming a certified PhysicalMind Pilates Instructor.
The therapeutic concepts incorporated in the Method Pilates offer an approach to Pilates movement unique to PhysicalMind Institute and are complimentary to most of the other certification programs available.
